Potomac Electric Power Company Office Building

Delon Hampton & Associates (DHA) was the lead civil and structural design consultant for the 384,000 SF, 10-level office building with 176,000 SF of below-grade parking. The building features ground-level retail and restaurant space, large lobby, landscaped plaza, and rooftop terrace. The energy-efficient structure was designed as a combination of mildly reinforced concrete and post-tensioned concrete to minimize building height and maximize column-free areas. The substructure of the building was designed in accordance with WMATA’s Adjacent Construction Manual, since portions of the basement levels are located in close proximity to the Metro’s Red Line tunnel. DHA also provided structural engineering design for an intricate, exterior cladding system.
