DC Streetcar

Washington, DC

Phase 1 - Initial Line Segment

Delon Hampton & Associates (DHA) managed the design consultant team rendering services for the initial line segment of DC Streetcar's Phase I Anacostia Line. The initial line segment of the project entailed the design of approximately one-mile of the streetcar system in the Anacostia area of the District extending along Firth Sterling Avenue from South Capitol Street at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s (WMATA) Anacostia Green Line Metro Station. This segment includes four stops located at Bolling Air Force Base, Navy Annex, Barry Farm, and Anacostia Metro Station. The system runs along the west side of South Capitol Street between Bolling Air Force Base and the Navy Annex stops. Then it transitions to the existing roadway of Firth Sterling between the Navy Annex and the WMATA Metro Station. The system includes a unique shallow 12-inch deep track slab that reduced the construction time, and the relocation of utilities, a new maintenance facility, and power traction.
