Blue Plains Advanced WWTP

Delon Hampton & Associates (DHA), as a subconsultant, is providing a broad range of engineering and program management services including civil, structural, permitting, and program management services to DC Water. The project is being implemented over a decade and a half and features more than 13 miles of 23-foot diameter tunnels spanning across Washington, DC. The system of tunnels and diversion sewers capture combined sewer overflows (CSOs) to Rock Creek and the Anacostia and Potomac Rivers for treatment at DC Water’s Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant. The DC Clean Rivers (DCCR) project will reduce CSOs annually by 96 percent throughout the system and by 98 percent for the Anacostia River, resulting in dramatic improvement to the water quality of the District’s waterways.
