Delon Hampton & Associates is seeking multiple Inspectors to serve on a new construction mangement contract with DC Department of Transportation (DDOT).

Inspectors will conduct daily on-site inspections of DDOT tunnels, including daily inspection of tunnel assets, and inspection of the daily maintenance activities performed by the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contractor.


  • Serve as a member of the DC Tunnel Asset Management Team. Meet weekly with DDOT project management personnel and attend bi-weekly operations meetings. Serve as on-site liaison with DDOT during tunnel-related emergencies.
  • Perform daily drive-through of all tunnels and daily walk-throughs of the tunnel support areas and fan rooms.
  • Perform daily routine surveys and inspections of the various tunnel elements, including, but not limited to tunnel fan operation controls and mechanical systems, lighting systems, safety features, signals, and communication systems. Provide documentation of such activities and associated status findings to the DDOT project manager and a reference to the related Cityworks activity record (inspection or work order).
  • Ensure that all maintenance and inspection activity is logged in DDOT’s Cityworks AMS.
  • Monitor maintenance work associated with all DDOT tunnels to verify that it is done in accordance with the terms and requirements of the contract.
  • Identify and document asset deficiencies that do not meet the performance standards or other terms of the contract.
  • Verify the completion of time-critical maintenance tasks.
  • Verify that all identified asset deficiencies, including those identified in quarterly evaluations, are correctly entered into Saber (and or its successor Cityworks AMS) and follow up to ensure that scheduled remedies or corrective work is being done within the required time frame.


  • 5+ years of construction inspection and or facilities management experience
  • Experience on DDOT projects
  • Experience performing inspection of tunnel assets
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience on O&M and or Asset Management contracts
  • Facilities management experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of performance-based contracting
  • Working knowledge of Cityworks AMS or other asset management record keeping software systems
  • Workzone Safety Certification

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 50% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Field work is required 50% where work may be conducted outside in one or more of the following conditions: heat, cold, wet, humid, dry, arid. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed.
