Delon Hampton & Associates, Chartered a minority-owned, professional consulting engineering services firm headquartered in Washington, DC, currently has an excellent opportunity for a talented and experienced Technical Writer & Editor.

Responsibilities

  • Review current PIM, SOPs, and guidance documents;
  • Prepare/create SOPs and guidance documents;
  • Collaborate with PICO staff and other client offices to collect lessons learned and update the PIM;
  • Review other policy documents and coordination to update PIMs;
  • Collaborate with project teams to support preparing written materials, including annotated outlines, graphics, drafts, and final versions of documents;
  • Constructively participate in focus groups, brainstorming sessions, information-gathering meetings and interviews, observations, and other meetings;
  • Participate in regular conference calls with the Task Manager to discuss planning, strategies, objectives, and to report on documentation progress;
  • Submit all material produced by the Consultant on behalf of the client, as requested. All materials produced under this contract will be the property of the client.
  • Comply with the client and Consultant quality programs;
  • Ensure quality reviews are conducted for all project deliverables before delivery to the client;
  • Ensure project tasks are completed within the agreed upon schedule;
  • Respond to client questions and requests regarding the work completed for this task order;
  • Prepare and maintain a comment and response matrix for each controlled controlled document; and
  • Resolve and formally respond to client's review comments.

Background and Experience Required

  • A minimum level of five (5) years of experience in technical writing, preferably for infrastructure planning and/or engineering projects;
  • Experience in organizing technical information to document standards, rules, SOPs, and handbooks;
  • Background in quality management and quality documentation;
  • Ability to extract information from key stakeholders, and to communicate the information in written form;
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word and experience with SharePoint Library Management; and
  • Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
