Delon Hampton & Associates, Chartered a minority-owned, professional consulting engineering services firm headquartered in Washington, DC, currently has an excellent opportunity for a talented and experienced Technical Writer.

DHA is seeking a professional technical writer experienced in conducting technical documentation efforts and observations to develop solid procedural documents in compliance with client's protocol. The technical writer will work as part of a team by conducting technical documentation efforts to include conducting interviews, system documentation review, research, and process observations to draft and provide written technical documents. The candidate shall also provide other technical assistance activities in regard to the scope of the project as deemed necessary by the client.

Responsibilities

  • Develop documentation that has a consistent look and feel;
  • Conduct interviews with team members, staff, contractors, and other personnel to collect detailed process and procedure details;
  • Review current system documentation and functionality;
  • Create graphical images, flow charts, and diagrams for inclusion in the documentation and the gathering process for technical requirements;
  • Research, develop, and edit content for requested process documents;
  • Develop written technical documents to be used as official documents; and
  • Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in English, technical writing, or a related field;
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of technical writing experience;
  • Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences or other completed materials that is shareable;
  • Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements;
  • Plan writing processes and set timelines and deadlines;
  • Maintain records and files of work and revisions;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; and
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

New employees MUST be fully vaccinated prior to their start date. Fully vaccinated means two weeks have passed since the final dose of a primary vaccine series.
