Delon Hampton & Associates, Chartered a minority-owned, professional consulting engineering services firm headquartered in Washington, DC, currently has an excellent opportunity for a talented and energetic, Senior Electrical Engineer.

Brief Description: This role requires professional electrical engineering work of a complex nature. This position serves as the electrical systems design manager and is responsible for overseeing the review and coordination of all electrical design.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Authority electrical engineers, technicians, and consultants. In coordination with the General Engineering Consultant electrical staff, develop electrical design criteria, plans specifications as guidance for stage and section designers;
  • Review engineering criteria, directive and standard drawings, and specifications related to electrical systems;
  • Review drawings, specifications and computations developed by Section Designers for electrical systems equipment such as switchgear, electrical panels, power control components, motors, pumps, escalators and elevators, cables, and heating devices;
  • Review recommendations for tests and control procedures for elevator and escalator equipment;
  • Represent the organization on matters pertaining to electrical systems and equipment for elevator and escalator services;
  • Prepare electrical design drawings and specifications for elevator and escalator operations;
  • Update Single Line Diagrams as appropriate utilizing AutoCAD;
  • Perform duties related to clients' lighting designs;
  • Perform PLC Programming;
  • Familiarity with the following protocols: Modbus RTU or TCP/IP, Ethernet IP, DeviceNet, Profibus, and ProfiNet; and
  • Familiarity with Fire Alarm Systems.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field;
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in electrical engineering, especially in design and related functions, to include task management experience, which is preferred;
  • Or an equivalent combination of post high school education and a minimum of eleven (11) years of progressively responsible experience in electrical engineering, especially in design and related functions, to include task management experience, which is preferred;
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in one of the signatory jurisdictions of the clients' compact, i.e., District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia. (Position is not intended to stamp and seal documents).
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of electrical engineering and how it relates to field construction and equipment installation, as per applicable codes and standards;
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire a knowledge of, the Authority's electrical engineering guides, specifications and related rules and regulations;
  • Skill in preparing designs, cost estimates and technical engineering reports; and
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, both orally and in writing.
