Delon Hampton & Associates, Chartered a minority-owned, professional consulting engineering services firm headquartered in Washington, DC, currently has an excellent opportunity for a talented and energetic, Safety and Security Certification Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project related safety certification and corresponding activities;
  • Serve as Safety & Security Certification Coordinator for construction contracts liaison with Safety Department and Contractors;
  • Prepare and process Temporary Use Notices and Certificate of Compliance requests;
  • Update data in PROCORE system through direct input of contract related data or uploading data files;
  • Assist in the development of contract documents and assist with bidding and contract administration as directed by the Project manager and/or Task Manager;
  • Comply with procedures identified in the Project Implementation Manual and provide project staff with guidance on the use and application of PROCORE;
  • Investigate accidents/incidents, reviewing hazard analyses by staff, review project safety plans, as well as Site Specific Work Plans (SSWP), complete project safety and quality reports, and other tasks as assigned by the Project Manager;
  • Maintain and monitor the performance of the project against the KPIs established for the Project Safety Plan and provide weekly reports to the Project Manager;
  • Work constructively with members of the project team to resolve project safety and/or project quality related issues and provide recommendations to key staff members;
  • Attend or conduct project safety and/or quality meetings with each discipline involved as needed to ensure effective project control;
  • Prepare project-related correspondence to consultants, contractors, authority officials, and other agencies; and
  • Perform other project related duties as assigned by the Project Manager and/or Task Manager.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, or related field plus a minimum of five (5) years demonstrable experience in system safety and/or construction safety and a minimum of two (2) years out of five should be in the transportation industry;
  • Demonstrated past experience in a Safety Coordinator role in a fast paced engineering environment;
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, and strong technical writing skills; and
  • A professional safety certification such as a recognized CSP, or TSSP or WSO-CSD or comparable certification by the Federal Transportation Administration (FTA), Transportation Safety Institute (TSI), or other recognized Safety and Security Certification training agency is preferred.

Working Conditions 

Work is performed within a general office environment 80% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Field work may be required 20% of the time where work may be conducted outside in one or more of the following conditions: heat or cold, wet or humid, and dry or arid. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed.
