Delon Hampton & Associates, Chartered a minority-owned, professional consulting engineering services firm headquartered in Washington, DC, currently has an excellent opportunity for a talented and energetic, Project Coordinator.

This position is a professional cost accounting, financial reporting and analysis position. This position requires an effective team leader who can mentor project team members and foster a working environment where a culturally diverse project staff can work cooperatively in billing, recording, monitoring, controlling, and reporting on all financial aspects of the project. Candidate will be responsible for assisting in ensuring that all costs for the client's Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) are in line with defined parameters of the federal grant that is funding the project. Candidate is also responsible for performing quality control checks of financial data, analyzing and reporting accounting information for both internal and external use and working with project management members to monitor the financial performance of the project against established key performance indices.


  • Assist the Project Manager in the upkeep of the project budget;
  • Establishes and maintains all financial records for the project, uploads any files into client’s record keeping management system (PROCORE);
  • Monitors all payroll reports and compares against field reports for accuracy of information. Prepares variance report and submits to project management team members;
  • Analyze all project relevant documents and working with Accounting and Office of Management and Budgeting Services (OMBS) in regular reconciliation of proposed versus actual costs against the project budget. Provide regular status reports to the Project Manager and key members of the project management team.
  • Monitor financial key performance indices for all aspects of the MATOC Program and provide reports as-needed to the Project Manager
  • Works constructively with members of the project team to resolve project financial related issues. Provides recommendations to key staff members.
  • Attends or conducts project meetings with each discipline involved as needed to ensure effective project control;
  • Complete a daily work report that outlines the work completed for the day;
  • Other tasks assigned by the Project Manager.


  • Must have a minimum of an Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration, computer science or related field with at least 12 semester hours in accounting;
  • A minimum of (5) years of professional experience in accounting or financial management experience;
  • Progressively responsible experience using manual and automated accounting systems in a government or commercial accounting environment;
  • Must be able to pass a government background check;
  • Experience in financial reporting and analysis of financial data and data systems;
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Working Conditions 

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed.
