Delon Hampton & Associates, Chartered a minority-owned, professional consulting engineering services firm headquartered in Washington, DC, currently has an excellent opportunity for a talented and energetic, Office Engineer.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and technical support activities in the construction management field office for Joint and Adjacent Construction projects;
  • Performs varied administrative office functions, maintains contract records, plans and specifications, and related engineering and administrative records and supervises office staff;
  • Work under the direction of the Project Manager who reviews work on the basis of daily informal contacts, reports, and conferences;
  • Maintains full familiarity with plans, specification, construction schedules, contractor's plans on assigned contracts, safety regulations relative to assigned projects in order to be knowledgeable of the contractor's obligations and Project Manager's responsibilities;
  • Disseminates information to office and field staff and internal stakeholder offices as required to keep all pertinent Authority personnel accurately informed of relevant matters;
  • Establishes and maintains job record files for assigned projects per instructions contained in the Project Implementation Manual;
  • Reviews contractor's Critical Path Method or bar chart progress schedules as applicable and maintains current, marked-up copies of such schedules;
  • Coordinates schedule and progress reviews with Scheduling Engineers, contractor representatives, Project Manager, and others as required;
  • Prepares and distributes schedule and progress reports based upon projected and actual completion dates for assigned contracts;
  • Updates data in the PROCORE system through direct input of contract related information or uploading other data files;
  • Verify technical documents for clients' project record, including as-built plans, drawings and schematics that have been submitted by the contractor;
  • Assists construction inspectors and contractor's representatives in clarification of contract drawings and specifications relative to assigned contracts;
  • Assists the Project Manager in reviewing contractor's claims determining merit of claims and negotiating cost and/or time adjustments based upon such claims;
  • Prepares change orders and contract modifications in accordance with established procedures;
  • Assists Estimating Engineers in preparing cost and/or time estimates for pending change orders and contract modifications;
  • Reviews and processes contractor's submittal of shop and working drawings and material samples and distributes as required;
  • Disseminates information pertaining to the contractor's submittal to the field staff, as required;
  • Coordinates the collection of daily inspection reports from field inspectors and records lost time for the contractor; and
  • Reconciles the lost time with reports from the D/B.

Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field;
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of seven (7) years of work experience in related field, of which two (2) years shall be in the transportation industry;
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in design, construction, or major repair/rehabilitation teams for infrastructure projects;
  • Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced engineering environment;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong technical writing skills; and
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD and ProCore.
