Delon Hampton & Associates, Chartered a minority-owned, professional consulting engineering services firm headquartered in Washington, DC, currently has an excellent opportunity for a talented and energetic, Mid-level Structural Engineer.

DHA is seeking a mid-level structural engineer who will work on high visibility and interesting structural engineering projects along with special assignments in a fast-paced environment. This position will report to the Structural Group Manager in the Silver Spring, MD office.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analysis and design calculations (beam, column, slab, foundation, walls for wood, concrete, steel, and masonry structures);
  • Read and develop contract plans and specifications;
  • Perform field review for projects under construction and surveys of existing structures; and
  • Perform construction administration duties such as reviewing submittals and responding to RFIs.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in civil or architectural engineering (with a focus on structures) from an accredited university. Master's degree is a plus.
  • PE or SE certification is preferred;
  • Four (4) to eight (8) years of relevant experience in structural design of commercial, institutional, residential or infrastructure projects using concrete, steel and wood required;
  • Candidate must have a working knowledge and clear understanding of structural engineering principles;
  • Knowledge of appropriate structural engineering design software required (e.g., RAM, ETABS, RISA, SAP, etc.);
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT is required;
  • Excellent written, oral, and verbal communication skills required;
  • Highly motivated and responsible individual that can complete tasks in a timely matter and have strong work ethic; and
  • Candidate must be willing to learn and comfortable working in a team.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed within a general office environment about 90% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Field work is required about 10% of the time where work may be conducted outside in one or more of the following conditions: heat or cold, wet or humid, and dry or arid. Must be able to work in confined spaces. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed.

New employees MUST be fully vaccinated prior to their start date. Fully vaccinated means two weeks have passed since the final dose of a primary vaccine series.
