Delon Hampton & Associates, Chartered, a minority-owned, professional consulting engineering services firm headquartered in Washington, DC, currently has an excellent opportunity for a talented Electrical and Traction Power Distribution Engineer.

The Electrical Power Distribution Engineer I will be responsible for the planning, engineering and design of distribution stations and distribution lines. They must be able to define equipment, design layout and protection requirements for new and retrofit distribution stations in accordance with all applicable industry codes and standards. Must be able to interpret customer requirements and develop appropriate distribution station plans and specifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in designing and implementing electrical and traction power distribution systems, with at least 3 of the 7 years in passenger rail transportation modes.
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering
  • Experience with 11,000/25,000-volt alternating current overhead catenary traction power distribution as required by the project is desired.
  • Knowledge of electrical and traction power distribution systems, and related switch-gear and substation facilities is desired.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is required.

Working Conditions 

Work is performed within a general office environment 25% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Field work is required 75% of the time where work may be conducted outside in one or more of the following conditions: heat or cold, wet or humid, and dry or arid. Must be able to work in confined spaces. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed.
