Delon Hampton & Associates, Chartered a minority-owned, professional consulting engineering services firm headquartered in Washington, DC, currently has an excellent opportunity for a talented and energetic, Construction Office Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the contract files and project logs that includes Contractor-Client correspondence, Contractor invoices and progress payments, contract changes and claims, time sheets and overtime, and cost estimates for changes to contract work;
  • Monitor and maintain contract logs with distribution of documents between Contractor and client's staff for compliance with contract time commitments;
  • Coordinate the collection of Inspector Daily Reports from field inspectors and record lost time for Contractors, and reconcile the lost time with reports from the Contractors;
  • Coordinate progress meetings with Contractor, client's staff, and technical consultants, prepare meeting agendas, record meeting minutes, and follow up on action items;
  • Conduct preliminary review of invoices and progress payments, prepare payment packages for authorization for payment, and monitor compliance with Davis-Bacon wage rates;
  • Support staff with collection of contract data and documentation to resolve contract changes and claims; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager and/or Task Manager.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in construction office management activities;
  • Proven efficiency with Microsoft Office products, including proficiency in spreadsheets, presentations, and database software;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in communication (both oral and written) with strong technical writing skills, and clerical skills including spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar;
  • Ability to proofread the work of others and one's own work with a high degree of accuracy; and
  • Ability to work independently and establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals with whom interface is required.

Working Conditions 

Work is performed within a general office environment 90% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Field work may be required 10% of the time where work may be conducted outside in one or more of the following conditions: heat or cold, wet or humid, and dry or arid. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed.
