Delon Hampton & Associates, Chartered a minority-owned, professional consulting engineering services firm headquartered in Washington, DC, currently has an excellent opportunity for a talented and energetic, Construction Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes technical expertise for reviewing project drawings and designs for the purpose of coordinating projects adjacent to Metrorail and Metrobus property, facilities, and operations as assigned by the client's Task Manager;
  • Provides coordination of design, safety, operations, constructability, and compliance with client's standards, including providing support for developing cost calculations and projections;
  • Follows procedures identified in the Adjacent Construction Project Manual to help advise the client on projects which will have impacts to the client;
  • Reviews plans for client's Task Manager assigned projects adjacent to, on, over, or under client's property and joint development projects to support managing the planning and design stages of subsequent improvement projects;
  • Contributes technical expertise in reviewing corresponding project drawings and designs involving facilities being built for the client to own, operate, and maintain to ensure compliance with client's design criteria, administrative and technical specification, standard drawings, and design drawings;
  • Serve as liaison between contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers;
  • Oversees construction engineering processes including tests on materials and procedures to ensure compliance with client's requirements;
  • Documents processes and keeps detailed construction logs;
  • Presents construction project progress updates to clients and senior managers;
  • Submit daily logs in a timely manner through Procore system; and
  • Performs other project related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, civil engineering technology, or similar;
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and/or Maryland;
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of Construction Engineering work experience in a relevant field of specialization, of which four (4) years shall be in the rail/transit industry;
  • In-depth knowledge of client's design criteria, standard drawings, and administrative and technical specifications;
  • Exceptional leadership, project management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated experience in development of contract specific language, development and implementation of contract management policies and procedures, and contract change management;
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders;
  • Knowledge of, and practical experience in, federal procurement regulations;
  • Ability to obtain OSHA-10 construction certification;
  • Successful completion of client's Railway Worker Protection (RWP) certification class;
  • Availability to visit the construction site outside of business hours, when relevant;
  • Excellent mathematical, organizational, and time-management skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Procore; and
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
