Delon Hampton & Associates, Chartered a minority-owned, professional consulting engineering services firm headquartered in Washington, DC, currently has an excellent opportunity for a talented and energetic, Civil Engineer.

DHA seeks a civil engineer to conduct surveys of rail yards to identify drainage, traffic, and soil issues requiring further detailed investigation. This position requires an effective communicator who can successfully interact and coordinate with multiple department stakeholders, deliverables, and tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field visits and capture photos, write up survey/observation notes, and provide recommendations for follow-up actions;
  • Conduct surveys of rail yards to identify drainage, traffic, soil, and other architectural issues that may require further investigation by field engineers;
  • Research underground utilities located in and near Metro-rail facilities; and
  • Prepare documents and reports, as well as conduct relevant research on identified architectural issues.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, engineering, or a related field;
  • At least four (4) years of directly related work experience in civil engineering activities;
  • Experience reviewing as-built drawings and 3-D models, as well as utilizing CAD, Revit, and Adobe Photoshop programs;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and PowerPoint;
  • Experience writing internal memoranda of record and developing technical documents or reports for internal stakeholder review and use:
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 360, Microsoft Windows, and the fundamentals of a network environment to perform reliable electronic document control functions;
  • Ability to create presentation materials for supervisory staff to deliver to management teams;
  • Ability to draw conclusions, and make recommendations on program organization, as well as technical and business issues;
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills to appropriately interact, and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and government agency representatives; and
  • Ability to physically access rail facilities, confined spaces, and perform hands-on inspection if needed.
  • Must obtain and hold Railroad Worker Protection (RWP) certification
